After last week’s stellar performance by the Sultans of Swing, a Dire Straits Tribute Band, another tribute band shone from the stage of the Sundance Beach Club in Rabac. The Abba Tribute Band transported the audience back to the crazy 1970s, thus giving further credence to the claim that people never forget great music. The ever-popular ABBA is still attracting new fans in 2018, owing in no small part to the movie ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’, and last night their hits ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘The Winner Takes It All’, ‘S.O.S.’ and ‘Mamma Mia’ got the crowd dancing, after which they thanked the band with lengthy applause. The atmosphere at the concert, which lasted for two full hours, was electrifying. Renditions of the songs ‘Super Trooper’ and ‘I Have a Dream’ were greeted with roaring applause and an ovation, and during the encore the band reprised perennial favourites ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘Dancing Queen’. The company Velesajam, which is a partner of the Rabac Open Air event and the organizer of the Sundance Tribute Festival, has another excellent concert in store for next Friday. In what is the last in a long line of concerts this summer, the Joe Cocker Tribute Band will put the cherry on top of the Sundance Tribute Festival with their performance on August 17th.
Rabac Open Air resumes its marvelous programme tomorrow with the last Princess Ball of the year, at which children are entertained by popular cartoon characters as well as a prince and princess. The youngest visitors will be able to enjoy sword fighting, dancing, facepainting and tattoos, and at the end of an unforgettable evening each attendee will get to take a surprise gift home.
