The Rabac Open Air Festival has attracted over 60,000 visitors in the last two years and this season it will provide new content that will again draw in a large crowd and make Rabac a popular summer destination. The third Rabac Open Air will be held from 15 June to 29 August and will provide entertainment for all ages.
This year, the leading tourism company Valamar Riviera, in cooperation with the Town of Labin, the Labin-Rabac Tourist Board and the MPG company, the festival’s organiser, will continue to create top-notch content, which is paramount for developing a tourist destination.
The Rabac Open Air festival officially begins on 15 June with the Summer Carnival, during which a host of creative and joyful costumes will parade through the Rabac Lungomare. The musical portion of the festival opens on 5 July with the concert performance by Massimo Savić, one of the most charismatic singers with one of the most striking vocals in these areas. Massimo will take the audience at The Beat Beach Club on a musical journey with a plethora of hits such as Suze nam stale na put (Tears Are in Our Way), Iz jednog pogleda (From a Single Look), Kladim se na nas (I Would Put Money on Us), Zar više nema nas (Are We No More), Tišina (Silence) as well as the older classics Stranac u noći (Stranger in the Night), Sjaj u tami (Splendour in the Dark), Gracija (Grace)… This year, the organisers have once again taken everyone’s age and musical preferences into account, as evidenced by the festival’s energetic closing concert performance by the cult British Rolling Stones tribute band The Stones at The Beat on 23 August.
Visitors have responded favourably to all the features offered at the festival of life in Rabac and this year we have even more eventful programmes and interesting features in store.
Once again this year, Rabac Open Air’s programme comprises four categories: As usual, Special Events, Cinema and Theatre, Street Music and Street Performance will take place from mid-June to late August at several locations. In addition to the opening and closing concerts of the Special Events programme, visitors will be able to enjoy the revamped concept of the established Sundance Tribute Festival. The Sundance Beach Club will host top-notch tribute bands that cater for all tastes, ranging from Joe Cocker, The Beatles, Amy Winehouse, Coldplay, ABBA and Zucchero to the excellent The Queen Real Tribute Band.
With the aim of enhancing the features, we have continued our fruitful cooperation with the programme partner the Labin Art Republic in order to further enhance the offer and provide various events in nearby Labin, such as great concerts and creative theatre plays that will again connect Labin and Rabac this year.
The Cinema and Theatre programme offers free open-air screenings of popular family and animated movies at the familiar venue in the park below the Valamar Sanfior Hotel. Adding an educational touch to the festival is the educational and theatrical spectacle Istra Inspirit, which provides a brand-new story with interactive play for the whole family that will introduce the visitors to the tradition and history of the Labin mines and miners.
The Circus in the City circus troupe has also prepared a new show for this season as visitors will have the pleasure of seeing the original Cabaret Show. The organisers are also planning The Princess Ball for the youngest visitors, which will allow kids to enter the magical world of Alice in Wonderland.
The tried-and-tested Street Music concept will provide a fantastic atmosphere and musical backdrop for the summer nights by the sea.
